You won't always be able to find the administration in their
respective offices. They are out into the people, reaching out,
finding out what goes on in the lives of the students, faculty,
and staff. Why? Because they care. They are outside their walls
improving the environment for all of us here at Maryrnount.

In most colleges the student body is so large that the officers
are either unknown to students or mean little or nothing more
than mere names. Here at Marymount, there is a small "family
style" student body. People are people, not numbers.
Our Associated Student Body officers are very unique. Not
only are they officers, but they are also friends; friends who are
willing to work for and with their student body.

Our Ecology and Environment are very important
things in our world today. So, we at Marymount can
try to do a little to help by saving our cans, i-ottles,
empty cigarette boxes and flip tops from cans.
This will not make a big difference in our
environment, but "every little bit helps."

loberman house On a sunny Wednesday morning last january, the morning
calm was shattered by an inflowing invasion of MPVC students.
Their purpose was to paint the aging buildings of the Toberman
Settlement House, located on the corner of 7st and Grand Ave.
Working hard a good portion of the morning, the painters man-aged
to make great progress into the paint job by noon, when
lunch from jack-in-the-Box was served and speedily consumed.
The afternoon saw most of the remaining work completed, save
only the trim. The remaining trim was painted on the following
Saturday by a smaller crew of students. Trim work wasalso done
by students on other students in varying shades of white, beige,
and dark brown. All in all, it was a good experience, one which
enabled the students to work and play together while accom-plishing
something constructive and helpful to the community.

It was the time of year when everyone forgot about himself
and thought of others. Smiles were carried throughout the entire
day, filling the campus with that special Christmas feeling.
The dorm council bought a beautiful Christmas tree and
decorated it magnificently. The Freshman and Sophomore
representatives also wanted to make this particular Christmas
warm and special and that is just what they did as they got their
fellow students to help fulfill their plans. Soon afterwards,
furniture was being moved and decorations were being put up
both in the lounge and in the cafeteria. The cafeteria was set up
with quaint white linen table cloths of red and white along with
beautiful handmade centerpieces. All these arrangements were
awaiting the presence of students and a spectacular Christmas
dinner followed by the Christmas dance in St. Gertrude's Lounge.
Students who did not attend this semi-formal affair also had
a very special Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

Sometimes my life is like a wave. I know where I'm going,
but after I hit the shoreline do I stay or do I go back with the
wave? What of rip tides, should I go right or left? And the under-tows,
do I go up or down? How does the wave get to where it's
going if the droplets aren't sure. Or is that what causes riptides?

Into the world a Diamond came
Whose value was not yet justified
So young was she who cried
When thy lover was to become unnamed
Full of wonder is a Diamond sky
To seek for an ebony stone through my guide
So sparkle young Diamond without crude vein
For some ebony stone will abide you his bride
Shine thy stone in the sky alas
Although Diamonds may be mistaken for glass
For the real stone is thee and shall always be
Lucy in the sky with Diamonds
A friend is thee.
